Does Standardization Improve Carbon Emission Efficiency as Soft Infrastructure? Evidence from China

Standardization in energy-saving and emission-reduction measures has become increasingly important. The impact of standardization on carbon-emission efficiency China was explored by using panel data from 2002 to 2017. results showed that significantly improved China’s efficiency, which remained robust after a series tests. Furthermore, the development industry standards had greater effect improvement economically developed coastal areas, while national promoted inland areas. An assessment mechanism demonstrated affects through technological progress, industrial modernization, economies scale. We compared our findings with existing literature regarding governance low-carbon economy; we also considered subsequent policy implications terms sustainable economic development.
